Welcome to photosky
Welcome to PhotoSky
PhotoSky is a small, quiet place for photographers to share their work.
It's an open social network built on ATProtocol, the same network that powers Bluesky. That means your account, your posts, your follows, and your likes live on your Personal Data Server (PDS) that you can take with you if you ever leave.
What it's for
Photography. That's it.
Post your own photographs. Talk about how they were made. Follow other photographers. Find groups built around a medium, a city, a technique, or a theme.
PhotoSky is not a general-purpose feed, a stock marketplace, or a place for memes and screenshots. Read our community guidelines for the full picture.
How it works
A few things make PhotoSky feel different from Instagram or the bigger feeds:
- EXIF data shows up on every photo. Shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focal length, lens, body. So you can learn from a photograph just by looking at it.
- Locations are opt-in and shown on a map. Find a photogenic place, or help others find one.
- Every post can carry an external link button. Your portfolio, your print shop, your zine, your Patreon. PhotoSky is a place to be discovered, not a place to keep you trapped.
- Groups are the heart of it. Like the old Flickr groups — a theme, a city, a medium, a community of people who care about the same thing.
- Your photos stay yours. PhotoSky will never use your work to train AI models. The app itself has no AI features. No AI captions, no AI recommendations, no AI-generated images dressed up as photography.

Who builds this
PhotoSky is a side project, made by one person.
I'm Roshan. Product designer by day, photographer on every weekend and holiday I can find. Born and brought up in the beautiful coastal state of Kerala, India, and now living and working in Bangalore.
I started with a small point-and-shoot in 2004 and have worked through crop sensors, full frame, film, and home printing since.
I'm building PhotoSky in the hours I have after work with a lot of help from Claude.
You can find me at roshn.me or on Bluesky @roshn.me.
What this blog is for
Product updates. Feature announcements. The occasional note about a featured photographer. Stuff worth knowing about, written when there's something worth saying.
If you'd rather get updates in your feed, follow @photoskynews.psky.social — every post here gets shared there too.
Thanks for being here.
